High Plank Pass Through (Modified)
This version runs the pass-through from a kneeling high plank — hands under shoulders, knees down — so the sweep across the body stays manageable while the trunk learns to resist rotation. Master it here before taking the movement to a full plank. Coached by Maddy (NASM-CPT) — these are the exact form cues he gives on every client's first week.

Sets & reps by goal
| Goal | Sets × Reps | Rest |
|---|---|---|
| Strength | 4 sets × 5-6 passes per side with 2-sec pauses | 60 sec |

| Endurance | 2 sets × 15-20 alternating passes | 30-45 sec |
Level — Beginner
Beginner — the rotation-control classroom; the full-plank version is the exam.
Proper form — 5 cues
- Kneel into a straight knees-to-head slope with the hands under the shoulders.
- Press one palm firmly down before the opposite hand lifts.
- Glide the free hand under the torso toward the far side, low and unhurried.
- Hold the pelvis dead level — the sweep must not tilt it a degree.
- Bring the hand back to its shoulder line before switching sides.
Breathing: Breathe out as the hand travels across, breathe in as it returns.

Common questions
Why learn the pass-through from the knees first?
Because the fault you are training against — hip rotation — is invisible to most beginners until the load is low enough to feel it. The kneeling base cuts the lever so you can sense and stop the tilt, building the habit that the full-plank version will later stress-test at a much higher price.
When do I move to the full-plank pass-through?
When ten slow passes per side leave the pelvis motionless and the pace never quickens to escape difficulty. Transition with the feet set wide, which keeps the balance cost fair, and expect to halve your reps at first. Narrow the stance across the following weeks as the trunk adapts.
Is this drill useful for posture at a desk?
Indirectly, yes. The pass-through strengthens the deep trunk muscles and shoulder stabilisers that long sitting leaves underused, and better stiffness through the midsection makes upright positions cheaper to hold. It will not undo ten desk hours alone — pair it with regular movement breaks and pulling exercises.
